Wind Blows
Yup, my run was crappy today because the wind was really blowing today. I'd take damp and cold and below zero weather any day over the 30 mph wind gusts in my face that I had today. The only thing that got me through it was knowing that as the wind was directly against me the whole way out, that it would be at my back on the way back for the hills I had to face. It was very unpleasant, but I made it. Now that I am up over 10 miles every week the long runs are starting to feel long, and my legs are letting me know that afterwards. I must admit that the training is tough, and it is made even tougher by the fact that I am my only motivation. It is one thing to commit to running 26.2 miles on one day, but that commitment also means that you have to run long runs every week before that. It wouldn't be so bad if the weather was nice everyday, but I've had a string of bad luck and the weather has been nasty for the last 3 of my long runs. Today was the worst of all and has left me feeling rather disenchanted. Well 6 weeks of training down, 10 to go.
Here is some motivation...
ReplyDeleteGo Geoff Go! Think of how nice it will be to do a run in Monterey in a few weeks.
Elijah and I are proud of you! Your dedication and commitment to this marathon is admirable.
Geoff, you can totally do this! I've already bragging about you & your marathon training.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my many fittings last week ran the LA Marathon last week end. Get this. One was a 12 year old girl & the other was a girl in 8th grade. Both couldn't finish a mile in October. HOLY COW! Both finished & plan on doing it again. I'm in awe of all of you that take on this challenge & actually follow through with it.
Keep on running, my friend!
Aww, thanks! :)
